Sora Kake Girl coming to DSiWare Another shmup for those lucky Japanese
Sora Kake Girl hits DSiware in Japan on November 25 selling for 500 points. It's a shmup developed by I.T.L, based on the animated series that aired in Japan last year. The ship will be able to transform allowing for 2 styles of attack, while the game is said to feature 4 stages which include interaction from the characters as the stage progresses. Besides story mode there's a gallery mode that features character illustrations, the more you advance the story the more art gets unlocked. Apparently if certain conditions are met, characters "Honoka Kawai" and "Itsuki Kannagi" can also be unlocked.
Little girls with giant breasts aside, I think the DS needs more original shmups, and not just as DSiware games. I still play Radirgy and Ikaruga (when I feel like hooking up the Dreacast), and it's just nonsense to not have that stuff portable.
Lol, I was about to suggest Phalanx, but that was ported to the GBA, not the DS. It's been THAT long.
What's even stranger is that my only other friend with a DS is like the shmup king. Dude will buy a little spaceship shooting game no matter how terrible it looks.
edit: WTF, no sooner than a day after my reminiscing about Phalanx, they announce it for the Virtual Console...
