OpenPandora is a pocket-sized Linux PC with everything a handheld console would ever need, sporting fairly good spec's and looking very much like a fat DS. To be specific:
# ARM® Cortex™-A8 600Mhz+ CPU running Linux # 430-MHz TMS320C64x+™ DSP Core # PowerVR SGX OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant 3D hardware # 800x480 4.3" 16.7 million colours touchscreen LCD # Wifi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth & High Speed USB 2.0 Host # Dual SDHC card slots & SVideo TV output # Dual Analogue and Digital gaming controls # 43 button QWERTY and numeric keypad # Around 10+ Hours battery life (yes, really!)
All interesting and very *tasty*, but at a hefty price of 500 bucks without VAT.
Oh, I don't know if it's "too much". You get a full-blown Linux PC equipped with a touchscreen, a full keyboard, more function keys than you'll ever need and dual analog knobs. Full internet experience guaranteed, over 50 custom-tailored emulators, tons of applications, great battery life... and it's still cheaper than an iPad2.
It's a rather interesting approach to the Pocket PC concept, and the fact that it's made entirely by Linux enthusiasts, not a big company is amazing. Hell, I'd buy one of those if I had that much money on me right now.
...and just to show how efficient the combo of a CPU and a DSP really is, here you go - Quake ]I[ Portable.
