When cleaning consoles, do your best to use microfibre cloths and a dry, soft toothbrush only. If you're applying water (for cleaning the casing only!), a few drops on the cloth are all you need, but to be honest, for example LCD cleaning fluid is far more desirable here - you really don't want to use water, be sure to keep that moisture away from the insides of the console :P (I personally use light spirit, normally used for sterilizing small cuts - I always have tons of that so hey!).

The rice trick does work - rice sucks up moisture really well. If no damage was done to the connectors yet, it just might work - if not, you'll have to clean the connectors themselves with strong spirit that won't leave any left-over residue - that means to perfume or whiskey! :P
