If there is already emulator that works more or less, You have at least guaranty that it's possible

It's not enough... I have same level of knowledge about Bash or Python and I wouldn't call myself Bash or Python programmer...
I'm programming for DS platform 6 years or so and I wouldn't call myself "god" here
If You want to code for DS, You must be very good at C/C++ (more C) and learn basic information about DS, what it can offer to You, what are it's limits &c.
