Hey Guys! I made a small, minuscule amount of progress.
I tried the Japanese version patch and guess what?
INSTA WHITE SCREEN ~ Doesn't even boot up. I know its a stupid idea, but I couldn't resist trying it.
At least this way it cant tease you with a well animated opening sequence.
Oh and I'm using woodr4 1.10 (latest)(read my other posts)

If it has the same type of AP, then Cyclo should be able to play it.

Not many cards have an Anti-Anti-Piracy system, most cards just fix the AP for each individual game.

For now i know only 4 flashcarts with that kind of system : dsone, dstwo, cyclods evo and ez5i

As far as I know, gelu's (aka z.g) firmware for Acekard RPG was the FIRST one with that feature. Wood firmware is the continuation of it.
I think EZFlash and Cyclo (maybe Supercard too) got gelu's/Wood source code and adapted that feature to their cards.

Still... This is a perfect example of why I don't know how to manual patch games because most times the games work as is on Cyclo.
I spend more time playing games than fixing them.

I'm using EZ Flash 5 w/ 2.0 RC16
Like someone said earlier 90% of the times i froze after character creation.
Other 10% of the time it froze after first battle.

ps. I'm playing on my PC with DeSmuME... yes I'm desperate!

Still enjoying my SCDSTWO :) no patching necessary and no freezes either...

I like this DQ better than most of the previous ones. It feels more fluid and gamer friendly.

Only thing i now is that those flashcarts emulate properly reads under 0x8000 and wood failed to run the clean dump.

I was referring to Wood RPG, of course. Wood R4 does not have that feature.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4275989/misc/Games/BCG/DQ9%20Patchv2.zip

it contains two patches, one to convert this BAHAMUT release to the Xenom patched version, and then a patch to convert THAT Xenom version to the patched Xenom version that has the nag boot screen removed.

Read the readme.. includes CRCs for variants of the rom.
