Rudolph has started coding a new variation of his NDS Backup Tool series. This new version is similar to the old Wi-Fi backup tool, but FTPd turns the DS into an FTP server. You can then connect to your DS via your favourite FTP client and transfer ROM image and Save directly from the DS card to any location on your PC. It worked fine for me as seen in the screenshots above, the only problem is the speed it transfers at, 4 - 5KB/s is very slow indeed.
Setup is simple just open the ini file and set a username password and port, transfer this ini file along with the backup tool over to your DS. Turn on the DS and wait for it to get an IP address. Open a new site in your ftp client and name it something like DS Dump, copy the IP from the DS top screen along with the user, password, and port you choose for the ini file, then save the site. Now you're ready to backup your legit games and save files from DS to PC over WiFi

Hey, I had that hairbrush.
lol
I would like someone else to try this out to see what speed they get from it. It might have been slow due to a problem my end. Waiting an hour to backup Mario 64 was just too long. 2048mbit games would take all day for me to dump using this tool.
I think you need to make sure that the DS you use is set up to work on your wireless router for online games. Start any wifi game and setup wifi connection. Then when you go back and try the backup tool it should connect
I had the same problem at first until i done this.
I just used this to dump a couple of small flashcards, mainly because they are tiny and quick to test. For me it starts off sending at about 35-40KB/s then drops to 4-5KB/s after a few seconds. I thought it could be something to do with windows firewall so i turned it off completely but that didn't help.
It's only v0.10 so maybe speed issues can be resolved in the future. Btw i didn't have to do anything to get it to connect, just put a user, pass in the ini and enter that same user pass in flashfxp, along with the ip the ds chooses.
EDIT: On second thoughts, the speed issues might be something to do with FlashFxp or its settings. It might be an idea to try a few different ftp clients to see if one performs better than the other.
EDIT2: Rudolph mentions in the readme: "FTPd support: because of poor command, FTP client software may not be used properly (tested with FFFTP)." So i installed FFFTP and while the connection seemed more stable the transfer rate still starts at 30 and drops to around 4-5KB/s
EDIT:3 I take that back, FFFTP keeps disconnecting on me half way through dumping. This dumper isn't usable yet imo, unless you are dumping a 64mbit ROM lol

I was able to dump New Super Mario Bros. flawlessly. Below is some basic info.
Code
< ROM Information > Game Title : NEW_MARIO Code : NTR-A2DE Ver : 00 Maker Code : 01 Unit Code : 00 Chip ID : C2 1F 00 00 ROM Size : 256M (32MByte) Used : 19.65MByte
< SAVE Information > SAVE Type : EEPROM 64K (8KByte)
$ from NDS Backup Tool FTPd v0.1
Used FFFTP, here's the transfer time:
Code
>RETR /NEW_MARIO_A2DE_00/NEW_MARIO_A2DE.nds 150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for '/NEW_MARIO_A2DE_00/NEW_MARIO_A2DE.nds' (33554432 bytes). 226 Transfer complete. Download successful. (3632 Sec. 0 B/S).
So transfer time was 60.5min for a 32MByte cart. No clue why the speed says 0 b/s. During the transfer the speed hovered around 9.6 KB/s (Started at 30 or so.) Hope this is useful.
I know this might be a lot to ask for but can anyone tell me in detail how to properly use this. I don't really get how to use this and how it connects to your computer. I also get and error saying something like unable to identify card or something like that. Sorry for asking such a noobish question, if anyone has the time to help thank you.
