I'm skeptical about playing this one, there don't seem to be many changes from its predecessors...Nintendo is sure milking the pokemon franchise though.

Yes, it's using a modified version of the Platinum version, which was a modified version of the Diamond/Pearl Engine. It's all slightly different, but all the same graphical style.
