After a bit of a setback with my PC (vundo virus infection) and yet another format (I only done it 3 days ago!), I am pleased to announce version 0.3 alpha of Take The Eggs! is ready for distribution.

There are quite a few things new in this version and I have spent alot of time working out the kinks that plagued the previous version. Most notable is the new implementation of a modified VRAM update system which I can't help but thank DarkEz for his help with tearing the PAlib function apart which has helped drastically improve the game in more areas than one. Due to this new implementation, the game now has absolutely zero 3D sprite flicker and also is so much improved that I have been able to substitute the awful RAW music files for much cleaner 64kbps MP3 files.

Also added in this version are visible score counters to help show you how much points are being gained / lost. Please bear in mind that when you drop off a baby in another players pen, the score that is displayed is the effect on the players score that the pen belongs to. This is still currently a little confusing without the manual that I am still waiting for Triforce to finish (you deserve the public shame now lol) but this should be a little clearer now.

Finally on to the gameplay additions. No AI improvements since the last version but I have now included a new enemy on World 1 to give you a bit more of a hard time and also a whole new world for you to play which also includes enemies (those scorpions can give you a bit of a nightmare, mwahaha).

Check the read me or the changelog here for more information. I hope you enjoy this version as it is really starting to take shape now. If you have any comments or find any bugs then please share them as I always enjoy reading what people think and above all the bug reports come in extremely handy.

I knew if I kept checking back this would show up!

Keep up the great work--this is still one of the most fun and usable homebrew games I've seen on the DS.

I didn't know you added sound for trucks rolling by in World 2. I don't mean to be rude but this sound fx is so loud it overpowers the music, which i can no longer hum along to.

I know it is meant to sound like a vehicle moving past but in all honesty it just sounds like static noise corrupting the precious music, imo it needs to be removed entirely. The horns are cool though, just too loud.

Also i have to say that all the sound fx in general are a bit too loud. I would be happy to remaster them all against a music track in order to get the balance perfect. Give me a shout when you come online retro as i need some specific info on the raw files.

Yeah I am including all SFX from the original. I know the sound levels need tweaking a bit but that will come towards the end when I add volume controls.

Loving it!
Love the new bigass boss character in world 1, love all the different enemies, hate the scorpions but that's sort of the point in the game, love the gameplay yes I do. :)

*laughs* Sometimes when I saw a CPU dizzy, I thought he was knocked out by another CPU and I went to steal his eggs/children... then I got knocked out too because a scorpion knocked him out and he was displayed above the scorpion, obscuring it. TEH DRAMA! xD

I so love this game.
Did I mention I love it yet? Solid clean fun.

I suppose I should add a little tip here, you can dash the scorpions to get rid of them ;)

Yeah the CPU is a bit relentless and decides to attack whoever it feels fit, teammate or not. Thank god you cant play team matches with a CPU buddy lol.

Glad you are enjoying this release, the gameplay is nearly as good as it is going to get now aside from a few AI tweaks here and there.

It's a remake of Motteke Tamago with Ganbare! Kamonohashi for the Sega Saturn. It is coded from scratch so it's not a port.

I've remastered all the songs, removing hiss and amplifying the vol where needed. Also remastered all sound fx so they balance out more with the music, these will be included in the next version most likely. retrohead may even add sliders in the options for music and sfx so you can adjust them to your own preference.
