Install ImageMagick and GhostScript if they aren't already installed.  You should then be able to do "convert blah.pdf blah.jpg" to do the conversion.

I tried using PictoDS and the recommended PDF2Image app but the text appears too small/filtered on the DS screens. For a sample I chose the #7 issue of the Gamer's Quarters. Is there an alternative app or am I asking too much? I realise it's mainly designed for comics with relatively big fonts but there's got to be a way to view magazines on the DS.

Is it still too small when viewing it through comicbookDS? coz you can Zoom and canvas scroll.

What I need for PictoDS is to resize images at a slighty higher res than it currently does, and for ComicBookDS to zoom in/out at a correct width/height ratio. I try replacing JPEG's under the IMAGE folder within the CBDS archive, and while ComicBookDS displays the larger images, it doesn't zoom in correctly. Fiddling with the various settings in the PictoDS GUI or te default ini's didn't help. Is PictoDS hardcoded to resize images at a res no larger than 700*xxx at the maximum? If I do override this how do I tell ComicBookDS to display the whole canvas of the larger image and not truncate it? Please help!

I just put up a new test build of PictoDS for Mac OS.  It uses the latest version of SWT (3.3), and includes a minor change that increased the conversion performance on my Intel iMac.  Try it out and let me know if it works for you.

I'm running the above version of PictoDs on a G4 PPC in OSX v. 10.4.11, and it seems to run OK, but it throws a "format not supported" error when trying to convert any jpg file. I hate to pester you with a dumb question, but what am I missing? There are no error messages in the console log... Thanks!

Forgive me, I haven't checked the rest of the topic

but have you tried using PNGs?

I found PNG's have a better quality when converted. I use comic book ds alot for my books which I found in PDF form - jpegs were just bad quality, but PNG's works really well.

I'll look into it.  Unfortunately my PPC Mac is dead, so I only have an Intel Mac to test on.  I'll see if I can repeat the error with JPGs.

FWIW, I get the same error with PNGs, BMPs, and GIFs.

Is there any info I can provide that might help?

Thanks!
