If you have an interest in studying Japanese literature, then Aozora Bunko NDS could prove to be a useful application for you. The Aozora Bunko collection encompasses thousands of works of Japanese-language fiction and non-fiction. These include out-of-copyright books or works that the authors wish to make freely available. Everything is in Japanese, including the interface and menus, so this definitely wont be for everyone. More information including source code and tools can be found at MeRAMAN's website

Cool. Wonder if there are any Edogawa Ranpo's books there... Edogawa Ranpo is a legendary mystery writer, he created the Japanese "Sherlock Holmes", Akechi Kogorou and Shounen Tantei-dan (Meitantei Conan is full of Ranpo stuff). Too bad none of Akechi novels haven't been translated, or made into anime. There is a succesful drama though but it was aired in the 80s and it's impossible to find.

Is there a function to turn kanji into hiragana and katakana... that pic doesn't have any kanji which is quite rare in Japanese literature. Maybe I will check this thing out sometimes.

I was wondering the same. I will check it out.

EDIT: So the menu is like 70% kanji so I have no idea what to do. I can only find the books.
EDIT2: So it turns out the book トロシコ has some furigana.

Wow Kitsune! Haven't seen you around for ages!

But I only found furigana in one book.

Didn't know Alice in Wonderland was part of "Japanese literature".  wink

Not sure if the new ereader I bought would work with Japanese books (probably not unless rooted), but it sure is a great thing to have!

"thousands of works of Japanese-language fiction and non-fiction"

Japanese-language fiction and non-fiction. Not necessarily Japanese literature only. So Fushigi no Kuni no Alice is right where it should be. :)

Hello there,

is there anything special I need to do to be able to run this? I just get a black screen unfortunately. I'm using a M3 real cart with YSmenu, the regular M3real software doesn't seem to work either.

Thanks in advance.
