Hello ds-scene, I will soon buy a DSLite and I know a R4 card was used with it. I am new to this flash cards business and I'd like to know if they modify the DS software or if their effect is temporary(only when inserted in slot). Should I avoid buying a DSlite if it was used with a flash card?

Thanks

DS are DSlight are fine with Flashcards, Most avoid R4 clones if possible, Original R4 fine.

Are no more updates from Nintendo.

Flashcarts don't affect the consoles, it's like if you were to take an empty DVD, put a movie on it and play it on your DVD player, the DVD player would play the movie but there wouldn't be any side effects. Same thing with flashcarts, you just put the games on them (or rather on the microSD card) and you can play them on the DS, but the DS itself won't change.

and one more thing

DS lite will not get update from Nintendo , so just buy a good flashcart with firmware support.

allright thanks guys

just got my ds lite and i have no games :(

which flash card should I get for a ds lite? all i want to do is to play ds games on my ds, i do not need any fancy stuff like media player, etc.

edit: it looks like there is the acekard (which isn't updated anymore) and the dstwo (which cost almost twice the price). Is it worth it paying more for a dstwo if I use a DSLite?

I use an original R4 with 2GB card (Maximum size usable for that version of R4) with my DS Lite and it gets great compatibility updates through Yellow Wood Goblin's Wood R4 software.

Why not take a look at R4i GOld pro flashcard. Its what I have been using for nds games on my NDS lite. Its cheat function is great!
