Oooh, didn't know about that Shin Megami Tensei. The other two're great as well: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
Another great RPG is The Dark Spire. Just don't wuss out. Loooots of people wuss out because they're whiny little snotnoses who want to start a game and instantly win. The Dark Spire's a REAL game, so it takes REAL effort. As a result, the feeling of accomplishment once you finish it can't be described.
Then there's also Shiren the Wanderer, and in extension all Mystery Dungeon games (Both Izuna games and the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon ones)
One of the nuttiest RPGs out there's gotta be Tingle's Rosy Rubyland. It's great fun and unbelievably weird, although I got to admit that I got a bit bored near the end, as it started becoming repetitive.
If you like JRPGs (I'm not a big fan of those myself, so got bored after a while) and big boobs (I'm a big fan of those myself, so that kept me to keep playing the game for a while), you'll enjoy Super Robot Taisen, too.
For survival RPG / adventure games, the Lost in Blue series is pretty good as well. I've spent alot of time on those. Great fun, although it can be a bit frustrating now and then (frustrating like in The Sims)
I'll agree with whoever suggested the Touch Detective series. They're short adventure games, cut up into different chapters. The humour in them's... unique, but's kept me laughing throughout each chapter. Great, great fun, those
Ghost Trick and Super Scribblenauts seem to be worth a try too. The original Scribblenauts's good as a gimmick, but sucked as a game. It seems like they fixed those issues in Super Scribblenauts. I can't really try either, cause my R4 doesn't run either of those.
For puzzle games, I can't recommend the Layton series enough. That must be pretty much the benchmark on awesome, diverse puzzle games by now.
I feel like I'm forgetting some here, but that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.
Ive tried the layton series, i just couldnt get into them, dunno why. =O Lost in blue is a really good game! that said, ive tried that one too yeah, the dungeon games, tried those ones too. Tingle's rosey rupee land had me occupied a whole summer. just added ghost trick to my already played list, pretty good game there! Im going to try that Dark spire game
Games im now going to check out: Suikoden Tierkris SaGa 2 Touch Detective Games The Dark Spire
Superb game lists, everyone! If you're okay with it, I'll make a new 'Must-have DS games' topic, with all those games in the list (divided into categories if you wish). I'd add links to their release topics as well.
Also, I took another look at my microSD, and I see I have Plants vs Zombies and Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butouden on it now. They're both incredibly good games in their respective genres.
(And, not really games, but perhaps still interesting, are the KORG DS music applications, namely KORG DS-10 and KORG M01. They might not provide the 'thrill' of an adventure game, but it's certainly fun to create your own music on the go. :D)
There's a Risk-like game out there, that was pretty good, too. Had anime-style characters. You picked a fraction and built your empire, kinda like in the Romance of the Three Kingdom game for the SNES. Improve economics, try to hire other generals, attack other provinces, etc. Sometimes, you'd get a cutscene, too. Was good fun, that game, but I forgot the name.
There're some other games that're pushing in my mind, but can't remember them. I do recommend Hotel Dusk and Touch Mechanic too, though (although I guess plenty of people'll find Touch Mechanic a tad bit boring. I myself found it interesting, as I got a better basic understanding of car parts that way )
