Really? I've never tried it, mainly because leveling up in the game was a pain in the arse, but I've never heard anyone say there wasn't a level cap, heck, they even said the max level you could reach was 99.
I suppose I could give the game a try again and EXP cheat myself to level 99 (or beyond).
