i almost put down suikoden at the very beginning due to the combat being so generic.. thank gawd i didn't though!
It has 108 playable characters... And team attacks depend on the present characters...
So theres "some" depth to it...
But the battle system isn't "generic" as it is "out-dated"

Riz Zoawd seemed to have some surprising depth with it's turn-based combat as I got into it, but i couldn't bring myself to enjoy not even getting to see my awesome characters do awesome attacks, despite how great all the other graphics were. Plus items were a little difficult with me not knowing a lick of japanese. XD
