Black/White and Black/White 2 are multiregion, they're the same across US/EU/AU, so they should work on all systems (except Japanese ones, probably).

I remember an old post of a pokemon fansite showing the imported Pokemon black not working on a DSI.
I bet the same happened in BW2 but I remember a friend of mine saying that his Japanese 3DS could play US / EU DS Games with no problems. 3DS games however didn't work.

And yes of course that person could play DS games on their 3DS regardless of region, as it's only DSi and DSi Enhanced games (except the Pokémon games) that are region locked.
