In here you can talk about everything Anime and Manga related without opening a new thread!

So, I have the first volume of HOSHiN ENGi for about 4 years now and I haven't read it yet. Any of you guys ever read it? Should I read it?

Houshin Engi is AWESOME! I have a few vols bought but I like the fan translation a whole lot more. Too bad Fujisaki Ryuu's other works aren't nearly as cool as Houshin Engi. Warning though, the series is extremely wacky and confusing (lots of people with difficult names for eg), but I love it. Taikoubou (the protagonist) is still the most kick-ass manga chara ever and the other charas are also great. I cried, I laughed and I loved reading HE. There are two parts of the story, volumes 1-15 and 16-23 (the latter  is absolutely crazy!).

Urasawa's MONSTER is great, never watched the anime till the end though, but I have read manga several times. My favourite Urasawa series must be PLUTO (8 vols).

I read a lots of manga, so if you wanna know if "insert series here" is good, just ask :D

One thing about Houshin Engi though, DO NOT WATCH THE ANIME. It's the most awful anime adaptation of anything ever. They promised to make a proper remake of the anime years back but looks like that promise was empty.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (JoJo no Kimyouna Bouken) by Araki Hirohiko
- Total epicness! 106+ volumes, the longest manga I have read and also the best. Contains 8 parts at the moment: Phantom Blood 001-005, Sentou Chouryuu 006-012, Stardust Crusaders 013-028, Diamond wa Kudakenai 029-047 (my favourite!), Ougon no Kaze 048-063, Stone Ocean 064-080, Steel Ball Run 081-104, JoJolion 105-. Also the longest Shounen Jump manga without TV anime adaptation :( Parts 1-6 are available in English (by fans), Part 7 is almost translated (only a few chapters of last vol left - by fans), JoJolion is the newest, only 11 chapters published, 9 of them are translated atm (by fans).

Kinnikuman by Yudetamago
- The father of all action shounen, most things we see in shounen today are from this manga. 36 vols. Actually 37, but the 37th is just side stories. All volumes translated (by fans). Anime: 137 eps, second series has 46 eps, 7 movies and one special.

Mysterious Girfriend X (Nazo no Kanojo X) by Ueshiba Riichi
- The only romance story worth reading! 8+ vols. All available in English (by fans). Anime: airing right now, 12 eps, awesome anime.

Goodnight Punpun (Oyasumi Punpun) by Asano Inio
- Very gripping story about a caricature bird-like creature called Punpun with hyperactive, adolescent mind. I cry everytime when new vol comes out. :) 9+ vols. Modern masterpiece. Available in English (by fans). No anime.

Houshin Engi by Fujisaki Ryuu
- One of my all-time faves. 23 vols. Available in English both commercially and by fans. Anime: 26 eps, but sucks and blows.

Cool! The longest series I have complete is Dragon Ball Z (26 volumes). I only need one more volume (vol. 19) to complete Shaman King (32 volumes).

How many volumes do you have? I have 267 (I also count Weekly Shonen Jump as volumes).

Around 300 I guess, I kept counting them but after I quit active collecting no reason for that anymore. I have mostly English and Japanese volumes, which makes that relatively small collection kinda valuable.
