My Dad was a member of the old school C64 scenes. Used to pirate and post floppy discs to people back in the 80's around the time boulder-dash first came out.
I know nothing else about it or his involvement other than I grew up playing ALOT of c64 games.
I was not involved with the C64 scene but personally I had a great time playing games on it. In fact C64 emulators are probably my most played, VICEX on my xbox is the main one that jumps to mind. The way all the games are categorized and you can play the music files with a click of a button is pretty damn nice. A similar thing for snes emu's would be cool I guess.
The games I remember most? hmm
Stop The Express Summer Games Winter Games It's A Knockout The Last Ninja series Rick Dangerous IKARI Warriors
Man there were some treats back then. I'd like to know what I know now and relive my childhood again although I would probably be dead by 16 through lack of sleep haha.
But atlas, this post is still void of any commodore chit chat, so it must be off topic.
Ok I lied. I actually did play 1943 on an emulator around half a decade though.
"atlas"?
Firefox error. Meant to be alas.
Phew.
Back on topic: The best C64 game was Batman: The Movie.
I had the Amiga version of that game, excellent title but exetremely difficult, I don't think I ever beat it. My family owned a commodore 64, but sadly it was mostly used before I was born, by the time I arrived it was all about the Amiga, and our C64 was in permanent mothball status in our garage. I don't know what happened to it, but sadly, I assume it was thrown into the garbage when we moved. Its a shame really that Commodore went backrupt, one can only imagine what a modern Amiga or Commodore PC would be like if they had kept that level of innovation and design from the 80s.
Edit: NM I was thinkin of Batman the Caped Crusader (which was also on the c64), the one with the comic book panels and constant face melting:
Awesome music tho!

I agree... That one was the best, I loved it, it had great music... Well, most C64 games had great music... In that aspect I liked the Last Ninja also. Another one I liked was Castle Master, even if it was actually horrible to play (2 FPS at best) I was in awe with its 3D the first time I played it in C64.
Anyway, I wasn't active at the scene, I was only a child at the time.
