Anyone know what the SMT/HLD button does on the Kaoss screen? I can only hear a difference when used on the third page, but it's too subtle to describe what it's doing exactly.
Edit: It sounds like SMT attempts to smooth out the transition between large jumps in params (i.e. moving the stylus from one end of the screen to the other) HLD is strictly stepped. It also seems to only affect the 3rd Kaoss page.

WOW. As a fan of software synthesis this has exceeded my expectations. The synth sound suprisingly good, perhaps most importantly the touchscreen has been put to good use creating a unique and easy to use interface. It is very easy to just load the demo song, start it playing and then navigate to different control screens and play around to get an idea of what different controls do to effect the sound.
I can see having some fun with this, maybe even coming up with some stuff on the go to import into Reason later as rex loops or whatever. It is a fun little synth. I'm looking forward to getting some people over here to test the multi-ds synched mode. I'm going back to it, have good ones...
This wont load on my R4 (1.17 firmware). I just get a screen black screen with japanese text, and no program, no way to move forward, nothing.
Updated firmware now, hopefully that will fix it.
Should work fine with 1.18--It does here.

Edit: After playing around with this I've come to the conclusion that the keyboard sucks royal ass. If you do not tap the EXACT center of the keys it wants to instead signal the other key (especially for the extremely tiny sharps and flats), I thought my touch screen needed calibrated, but even after doing it twice it seems to not be the case. I'm not sure if it's the resolution of the touchpad or what, but in my opinion it's not very accurate...and you'd expect that from KORG of all companies. Perhaps I'm just tired so I'll give it a try tomorrow, just a minor complaint on a great app/game.
Second edit: Nevermind, I'm just tired it seems, it's not fair to compare a two-octave keyboard 256px wide to my 88-key grand keyboard. It is what it is and it seems to work as well as can be expected.

we are very glad to know that you have a 88 key piano and you have enough money to afford it. The thing is, if u talk crap about this "game" only because of the keyboard, it means that you havent used it. I bet you just saw the keyboard and thats it. Didnt you know that u can change the octaves on the keyboard? Yes, you can, there's a button there. Try the kaoss pad in it, changing the parameters of it and of the synth, its so much fun!
You dont need a lot of keys and octave to make good music. You just need something thats inside the upper part of your body.
And, yes, this thing rocks.

Yes, I know you can change octaves, nevertheless, it's still only two octaves at any given time. And an 88-key grand isn't that expensive. Its called a job and a budget, not that it's any of your business but it took me eight months to save enough extra cash to purchase it and still be able to pay bills such as fuel, mortgage, utilities, car payment, etc. Perhaps you didn't read my entire post, namely, the second edit. I explain myself and my mistake. As for never using DS-10, how can I argue with you, I spent an entire day with it and that's that. Find a previous post of mine that says I didn't like Korg DS-10 because it's not going to happen. Check the ratings for it and you will see that I gave it a resounding 9.5/10. I'm sorry if I've annoyed you Blitit because it wasn't my intention. I was merely attempting to give my honest opinions regarding the game because some persons, including myself, intend to purchase it. Things such as no export feature or Slot-2 MIDI connector and an inaccurate keyboard (which I later retracted and attributed to my lack of sleep). I could have simply edited my post and removed the portions which are deemed inaccurate, however, by doing so it makes me feel like I have something to hide. I don't. I left it intact because everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect.
I hope that you do not take offense to this post because I am, and have been for quite some time, convinced that DS-10 is awesome. Yes I've used the kaoss pad and it may be my favorite part. And just for the record my 88-Key is a Yamaha, not a Korg. Korg is out of my price range. Have a great day.
Give it some time and I imagine someone will come up with a .sav file editer that will allow people to extact the actual song files held within the .sav so people could export the song in its raw form to their pc for further manipulation. Im not an expert in this but they were able to do the same thing years ago with the first daigasso band bros game. Just an idea.

three14 I found your comment useful and in place, it is a music production comment in a thread about a music production software. I don't know why all the fuss... Anyways, three14 & blitit, please don't start a flame.

That would be awesome, but it's not 'too' bad recording with line-in. And, like Vengeful Stick suggested, pairing this up with a Zen seems like a pretty good way as well. I'm actually impressed with the sound quality, there's no hiss or buzz (that I can hear) when recording. I did have problems in indirect sunlight yesterday, the dark theme is slightly washed out on the lower screen which, I am guessing, is due to the touchpad diffusing the sunlight. But this game deserves to be purchased if you care anything at all about music. Hopefully other companies will follow with creative games/apps like this. A few months ago I remember reading about some Photoshop-esque application that looked awesome but I've since forgotten the name.

Thank you. It's not Blitit's fault in any way and I have no hard feelings against him. I really was being unfair about the DS-10's keyboard and for that I deserve a little flak. It was a mistake on my part to jump to conclusions.
