Ben Ingram has released a NEO-GEO emulator for the DS. Yep i also thought this was a joke when i was first told. This is real though folks and it runs games unbelievably well considering it's the first version released. I tested Metal Slug and couldn't believe how well it was running on a DS. When using sound it skipped frames when the screen got a bit crowded which is totally understandable, but with the sound turned off it almost seemed as smooth as it does on the actual hardware, amazing. ROMS need to be patched with the included converter. You can run the tool via command line and patch ROMS to use the Japanese bios, for example this will give you red blood rather than white in Metal Slug. More infomation in the readme below, Enjoy!

After playing for a bit longer and getting half way through level 2 on Metal Slug without losing a life it locked up on me angry
Seems like it freezes at random points but it's still an amazing feat to see NEO-GEO games running in the first place  ;)

EDIT:
It just locked up in exactly the same place again, when the first tank comes into the screen on level 2 i throw a grenade and it locks up. Oh well i guess i'll try some other games.

Metal Slug locks up for me on the first level, same place every time. Gonna try some other games for now, but this is already looking like one of the best emulators on DS.

King of Fighters 98 seems to work fine with sound.

Will test Garou:Mark of the Wolves and King of Fighters 2002 in the morning.

This part of the readme is all you need to know in order to use it really

Next you will need to convert some NeoGeo roms (mslug.zip for example).  You also need a bios rom (neogeo.zip).  NeoDS uses the same rom sets as MAME, so make sure your games work in MAME before proceeding.  Put all the roms you want to convert along with the bios together in a folder.  Copy NeoDSConvert.exe into the same folder.  Run NeoDSConvert, and it will convert all the NeoGeo roms in that folder.  The converted roms will have the *.neo extension.

My guess is that maybe you have a wrong bios set. do a google search for neogeo.zip
