Try Terranigma (SNES). Not Western-made but it has a fantastic story and the best soundtrack of any video game ever (except perhaps Mirror's Edge).

you may have a point because after 2 hours of puzzling the story i understood KH2 (without ever playing/seeing KH1 and the other gba/ps2 game)
then 365/2 days destroyed it ...
then after another hour of puzzling i understood it
then the psp game destroyed it ...
after that i rage quited and didnt even tryed re-coded
and as i sayed
gameplay is cool but its not enough for me because in such games i dont see any motivation

Oh good flip farking jesus. This game absolutely makes less sense than the first one now.

Kingdom Hearts is seriously just one big angsty flarp fest topped with Twlight Sparkles©,  Final Fantasy cheese, and chocolate Disney.








...but the gameplay is nice.

I don't think anyone is angsty anymore, unless they added some new angsty villains.   Yoshi doesn't angst, they should put him inside the game.

Terrangima (or Tenchi Souzou), I played it pretty far once, but I was horribly lost, even walkthrough didn't help me at all so I gave up. Cool game but also confusing as heck - like Kingdom Hearts. Like I have said, have no idea who is the antagonist anymore, or protagonist either. It might be due the fact I haven't finished even a single one of the games, I was very close with KH1 though. I read the manga instead and it's pretty nice but way too short.

Yoshi sucks.

Likeable characters... well, i still think Shadow Hearts II (or Covenant) for PS2 has the best characters ever. Yuri is a bit angsty but all the other charas are hilarious and they compensate a lot.

I always feel bad for the KH characters. every time they make a new game it means something really bad is happening in their fictional lives. Im only saying this bc with their distorted reality with multiple fake and real universes/dimensions is just a cluster fk in comparison to most fiction
