Got a new job woking graveyard shift. Come to find out there's 3 hours downtime each night. My boss told me to just hide out.

So I'm buying a new DSi XL from Target to help keep me from going insane. It might have the latest firmware. Not sure if that's a problem.

What I want to do is:

Play DS and GBA backups
Run emulators. NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Master System

Is there any reason why I should not get the DSi XL? Should an earlier model be used? I really want the XL's larger screen.

Is there a single cart/card (all-in-one) that runs DS, GBA and emulators?

edit: After reading around, I've decided on the SuperCard DSTWO. What is the most reliable site to buy it from?

Here's some quotes from what I've found so far:

Q. What are the most popular slot-1 cards, there are so many, i am confused!
A. There are basically 2 types.
1. Stand Alone cards that require a micro SD card
Advantages are that you can have as many micro sd cards as you want.
Disadvantages is that the slot where you put the micro sd card can often go faulty if you are always changing the micro sd
2. Cards with inbuilt Memory
Advantages is that there are no speed issues with the millions of types of micro sd cards, and the memory is NAND, and inbuilt
Disadvantages is that there is no room for expansion.

only Acekard 2i works on a DSi/XL

get a better cart, like a R4i Gold 3DS or Acekard 2i

Get your self an AceKard 2.1 with an EZ-Flash 3-in-1 pack will do what you want. Play GBA, NDS, SNES, NES all with the right emulators
----------------------
If I get it right, you'd like an all-in-one kind of thing, no? Then I would recommend you the SuperCard DSTWO. It has an impeccable DS ROM compatibility, and because it has an extremely powerful processor on board, it is able to play GBA games, and it also has its own SNES emulator, which is much better than the other SNES emulator, SNEmulDS.
----------------------
Definitely get the DSTWO if you want great SNES emulation. Some games may still not work, because they used a special kind of chip, but most should work just fine.

If you haven't bought one yet, ordering a DSTWO from one the official 'dealers' would be a good option. It's been years since I bought a flashcard, so I have no idea which one will be cheapest or quickest in shipping or whatever.

Thanks for your reply smile

I already ordered it from realhotstuff.com, which I found in that very list. After reading around here and other sites, realhotstuff was the most recommended.

supercard dstwo seems to be the best flashcart at the moment, but it's the price of a single new DS game.

supercard dstwo seems to be the best flashcart at the moment, but it's the price of a single new DS game.

...keep in mind that it'll provide you with the capacity to play all the DS games ever released and with its extra CPU it'll provide you with the best emulators and homebrew available for the platform so it's well-worth the price. ;)
