Doesn't the firmware have this function? At least, when I had an R4 there were these 3 blocks when I started up. 1 for the games, 1 for moonshell and the other to start whatever was in slot-2
That was a long time ago, things might have changed ;p

While you do have access to the SLOT-2 device, the game has to go from the Storage (microSD or miniSD or whatever) to PSRAM. That's done by selecting the ROM file in GBAExpLoader and transferring it.

My card is a clone, so that button is a config button.

Well, I'm pretty sure blastermak was right, there really should be some kind of option to boot slot-2. The site even mentions it. Unless you put a wrong url in your post, but I doubt that. Have a look around the firmware again, it really should be there.

Then if you do not have acces to that button the only thing you can do is remove the card when you boot your DS and select the GBA game from the original OS.

Some DS flashcards (such as the DSTT) autoboot even when you have it turned off in the system settings. Maybe this card has the same problem, though I suppose not as it seems to be a DSi flashcard.

But no card I know will keep itself glued into SLOT1, so it can be taken off and that's it... Also, IIRC DiagnoSe had an option that lets you boot from anything that's in SLOT2, and that includes original GBA carts, so there'll be no need to take the R4-whatever-clone off the SLOT1.
PS: Sorry for the link not being the DiagnoSe homepage but a download link somewhere else, it looks like the page is 404ed.
EDIT: Just tried DiagnoSe and yes, it lets you boot from SLOT2, I hope it works for you.
