for me it has to be "the incredible hulk" on the SNES. an old u.s. gold title (for the younger readers, think of u.s. gold as the 90's equivalent to ubisoft) based on the marvel comic book. it was godawful, hard as hell, had really bad controls and graphics that were kinda okay in a really unimpressive way. it was sort of a hybrid between a sidescrolling beat 'em up, a classic j& r and even had some stealth mechanics that seem to have been inspired by 'flashback'- there were sequences were you would run around as bruce banner without any means to defend yourself, so you had to duck enemies, crawl through ventilation shafts and sewer pipes and find some sort of energy pills so you could transform to your hulk form again.
me and my friend spent weeks, maybe months on that game, memorizing the levels, finding out new moves (a pal of ours actually stole the game from a bargain bin, the security-rfid-whatever-stickies were only on the packaging, not the cartridge itself, so he just took it out of the box and pocketed it. yay free game! boo, no manual! that's why we had to find out the moves by ourselves. i think my friend even wrote down a move-list at some point), playing the first couple of levels all over again and again and again trying to progress further in the game. even back then we knew it wasn't a good game, but it was free, we didn't have that many other games and after all you got to be THE FRIGGIN HULK!
i think we never finished the game, but we got more enjoyment out of it than you'd think possible from a mid-90's-u.s. gold-comic-license game. i revisited it a couple of years ago via emulator and could not believe how god-awful it really was. it really amazed me how my past self could put up with that game's bullshit for days on end...
there are quite alot of other really bad games i spent way too much time with, but that's for another post, first i wanna hear some of your bad-games-good-times memories!

Just had one recently. Hydrophobia: Prophecy. Looked really nice on video and gameplay but apparently its lags like hell. So much you can't even play the game. Well, that's just a recent example. Played many bad games, too much too name em all ;p

Ephemeral Fantasia for the PS2. I kept thinking it would get better, the groundhogs day theme was pretty cool, little guitar minigames, interesting characters. And then each of those things got annoying.
Time repetition just means you're locked in town, and then they have some sort of fucked up clock, along with some city that looks like it was designed by a troll architect. And not to mention there's multiple appointments you have to keep, precisely; if they say be across the city at 2:00 then you better be there by 2:00 or you'll have to try again the next time. You have about 4-6 game days before the Sephiroth-ish villain does whatever he does. Essentially if you fuck up, you'll be killed by Sephiroth guy and have to try again.
The minigame guitar thing was tedious. The girls are all TITS and lack personality, I cannot remember anything about them other than their breasts. There's some stupid fucking talking guitar-thing. I must have spent 40 hours trying to be optimistic. The princess can save herself.
Sephiroth guy
His name is Xelpherpolis. Yeah.
This is the worst game ever. Right behind it is Beyond the Beyond, which was the first rpg for the Playstation. It also features a Sephiroth-guy.

I actually enjoyed Beyond The Beyond. Not thoroughly, but it kept me entertained. It did have one of the worst cases of "two steps - RANDOM BATTLE! - Oh what was I doing again? Lessee... two steps - RANDOM BATTLE!" The pumpkins puzzle was especially tedious due to that. It even had some memorable moments for my bros. They sometimes still laugh at "Mystic syphon" (an item you can buy in shops in the game, and must be one of the stupidest item names ever)
For me, it must be all those "casual" games like Build-A-Lot and the likes. They're not fun at all, they're tedious and boring, but sometimes, there're weeks where that stuff's just appealing, and I end up wasting a couple of evenings on that.

Mine has to be Lux Pain on the DS. I originally bought the game when it was first released because I needed something to do on my flight from one side of the US to the other, and although it pained me greatly to play such a piss-poor game for 7 hours, I hadn't brought anything else along because the package made it look good so I expected it to last me.

"Oooh, adventure!" *plays a bit* "Walls... of... text... oh, scratching!" *plays a bit* "Walls... of incoherent and uninteresting text... Oh, I get to use the Stigma!" *plays some more* "...what do I do now?" *turns it off* "Bugger it." *turns it on a month later* "Gotta give the game a chance... Alright, let's start from the beginning."
So far the process has been repeated 3-4 times, I keep giving this game chances it doesn't deserve for a reason unknown even to myself.
