Hello!

Please forgive me if I enrage frequent users, but I could not find this topic by searching.

I am EXTREMELY new to using flash cards(carts?). Once upon a time, I tried to use a MAX media thing with a CF card to play games. I am currently looking for a better solution(there seems to be a LOT!)

My goal is to find something for my DS lite to play GBA, NES, and SNES games, and maybe NDS games.

The main question is, what performs better? A slot1 card with an SNES emu on it, or a slot2 card with an SNES emu built in?

I've been having a very hard time finding good information regarding these flash cards because most forum topic are up to 3+ years old!

I believe as far as slot2 cards, I'm looking at the G6 lite flash 3rd, or the M3 Perfect lite microSD.

As far as slot1 cards, I am not sure. It seemed like a slot 2 card would be more suitable for playing all the different retro games, but now I'm not sure.

Any help is appreciated!!!
~Bill L.

Get your self an AceKard 2.1 with an EZ-Flash 3-in-1 pack will do what you want. Play GBA, NDS, SNES, NES all with the right emulators :D

Thanks a ton!

But when you say Acekard 2.1 do you mean the 2, 2i, or 2RPG?

Also, this solution requires I install emulators onto the acekard correct? Not that this is a problem, because I did see that nifty thread with a link to practically EVERY emu for the ds :P

Thanks again!

SNES/NES is emulated in any way, only GBA games play natively from slot-2. If you don't need GBA support, an emu on a slot-1 cart will do just fine.

Personally, I have an AceKard 2.1 in slot-1, with GB/GBC/NES/SNES emus running off it. Since you got a DS Lite, an AceKard 2.1 will do just fine, no need for a DSi-compatible one.

For GBA games I have an M3 Perfect in slot-2. Nowadays it's hard to find, the EZ-Flash recommended by akfgftw is probably the best choice nowadays.

If I get it right, you'd like an all-in-one kind of thing, no? Then I would recommend you the SuperCard DSTWO. It has an impeccable DS ROM compatibility, and because it has an extremely powerful processor on board, it is able to play GBA games, and it also has its own SNES emulator, which is much better than the other SNES emulator, SNEmulDS.

(I used to have a Max Media Dock, too!)

the snes emulator sucks, most games wont run or the game is totaly fucked up. (frame rate, gfx, sounds)
i think it's a lack of memory in the flashcard. thought the dsTwo works alot better for snes games, but the gba emulator isn't that great/

Hmmm. The review on the supercard dstwo may be outdated, but it does say snes games still aren't compatible

I guess what it really comes down to is which solution will play snes games better. If the supercard in fact plays better than that sounds best.

Thanks again!!

Yeah, the review's a bit outdated, I should probably write a new one myself soon. Definitely get the DSTWO if you want great SNES emulation. Some games may still not work, because they used a special kind of chip, but most should work just fine.
