The DKR tournament was a hell of a lot of work, I created a website for it and people were sent a PM and had a forum thread created for them where they could discuss the best time to meet. They would then head to the official tournament website and select a time slot for their match. A judge would then pick the best matches for them and join in the forum thread. 3 players would race and the judge would idle in a convenient spot to oversee the action and watch out for any cheating. This was far too much work and really caused chaos when the judges were sitting waiting for people to arrive that never came. Something more relaxed would be better I think.

a simpler way like tournament table will do I think?

You keep mentioning that 2 player games are a no no but I can't see why not. I can't really see someone being able to cheat their way to winning a tournament. The matches will be randomly selected so there is no way for them to know who they will be playing against until we have generated the games. 2 player games are also a lot easier to organise and would mean a fast turnaround between rounds (no need for 4 or more people to arrange a time that is convenient).

I personally trust that >90% of our members would play fair and I am sure any cheaters would be reported and stand no chance of arriving at the final by doing so. Rounds in tournaments usually last a good week or so which would be plenty of time to dis/qualify any problematic players and arrange rematches if required before progressing to the next round. We just need a firm outline for how we would deal with people that are accused of cheating (if any even happen). It kind of makes sense that anyone accused of cheating gets put on stand by, "accused cheaters" could then play eachother which would mean 50% of them making it to the 2nd round.

As long as cheats are obvious, we should not really have a problem. Hey, it's only for fun anyway. Maybe there is a prize at the end but really everyone that joins just wants to enjoy the tournament.

What do you think?

Cheater or not, I think it's all about fun, if we find cheaters, we can just disqualified him, and yeah it's for fun only. I agree with retrohead.
come one njrg, don't think too much about the game, every game will do yes?

Well I'm in favor of the 2 player thing because of how simple and convenient it is. While it is indeed much funner to have more people playing, the more people there are, the more chances of random Error codes, disconnects, lag, ect...
Not to mention you can fit more rounds if you use 2 people per round than 3 or 4.
And I was thinking of sitting idle, but I'm also thinking of joining in on the games as well, but not counting any wins if I ever tallied any... Pretty much participating as a player and not a contestant. So even if I came in 1st, the person behind me would be the real winner. If I say my influence on the game doesn't count, then theres no reason that I can't play too.

Also I don't consider cheating to be a big deal if you avoid some games.
In Mario Kart if someone's using so-and-so cheats, you can tell right away. Its safe to play because you can use the map to see if a racer is using way too many stars, or 600CC cheat that quadruples your speed.
Metroid is a no-no simply because of infinite health, you can get hit 5 or 6 times, turn the corner, and "claim" you got a health refill, theres no lifebars on opponents that tell you when they're near-dead.

And for others wondering about other wifi games, Lightake mentioned more than one tournament so Clubhouse, Mario Kart, Tetris, Bomberman aren't the only games that will ever be played, they're simple the most accessible ones to play. I've been thinking about other scenarios where the games in a tournament are decided by other factors.

Admins and tournament organisers played in the DKR tournament aswell. Any admins that won (Me and homie) donated our prizes to the runners up (they had an extra race to see who would get which prize).

I thought it was noob-proof because I've got a 14 year old girl to figure it out, but LogiCat had some troubles... but I think that was just him being way too stubborn to download daemon tools, and wanted an alternative image mounter to spite me. And then that didn't work and ultimately had to download daemon anyways.

I'll have to publish the reply that I gave to Njrg in private:
"That is not true at all. It was not a trouble, I just wanted an alternative. D: And I did not do that to spite you."
I dislike daemon, I always try to avoid it. I usually use 7zip to "extract" the files from the ISO, but it did not work in that case. So, I downloaded an open source image mounter, but I disliked it even more than daemon. >_>  It worked, though.

Njrg made me break my break (yoyodogdog?). >_<
